Leaving Halogens in the past

LED landscape lighting has become the preferred choice among homeowners and professionals for several reasons. For those of you who have a halogen lighting system, you might want to start thinking about the transition to LED bulbs because it will become unavoidable very soon. Considering LEDs are not only cost effective due to their longevity but also are brighter and perform better, this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

As the popularity of LED lights continue to rise, and they become more accessible, it may be time to make the switch from those outdated halogen lighting systems. It’s easy to keep the lighting you have now, but soon it will become worse for the environment.

“Why you should switch to LED lightbulbs right now, before the law requires it”, an article published in January 2018 by The Washington Post, states that the federal government passed a regulation that light bulbs must be at least three times more efficient in the next few years.

California has already decided to speed up this change.

Effective New Year's Day 2018, California retailers have been mandated to exhaust their supply of incandescents and subsequently sell bulbs that meet the new standard, which means LEDs and compact fluorescent light bulbs. The rest of the nation will follow in two years.

With those reasons in mind, we encourage you to consider making the switch if you still don’t have LEDs. Also, be sure that you call the right lighting specialist to help you make the transition...

TESTIMONIAL

“Bill Knowles has done three landscape lighting proposals for me, two of which I had him install (15-25 fixtures each). Bill is very knowledgable about landscape lighting products. He recommends fixtures that are durable and long lasting. He has the experience to know where best to position light fixtures and how to properly wire them. He is confident in his approach but easy going about listening to owner input. His proposals were clear and detailed with product cut sheets provided. He does not usually provide any drawings locating the lighting on a landscape plan, however, if there were a Landscape Architect involved I assume they would provide that service. As an Architectural Designer myself I was particularly interested in the aesthetics of the lighting, not just their function. Bill delivered two great looking projects. As for the warranty it is very generous. After installation Bill returned to adjust light levels (with lower wattage bulbs), make adjustments to the timers, and replace any faulty bulbs at no charge.”
